Hillary Clinton’s refreshed new look may not only be from the joy and excitement of running for President of the United States, she may have gone under the knife.
In a recent interview with Dr. Anthony Youn, a plastic surgeon, Radar Online reported his opinion about whether Hillary has had plastic surgery. He commented that she looked years younger and very refreshed. We agree!
Politicians’ Plastic Surgery
Political figures have to be in the public eye, so their image is very important. If they start looking old and tired, for example, it could indicate to constituents that he or she is unmotivated to do a good job in office.
Further, for eye lids that sag or under eye bags that protrude, voters may see the candidate as angry or unapproachable. These facial cues that we perceive are important concerns to address so that politicians can stay at the top of their game and be perceived in as healthy and competent a light as possible.
To combat these false perceptions, politicians often turn to procedures such as facelift, eye lift (blepharoplasty), neck lift, brow lift, wrinkle relaxers or facial fillers.
Does a Beautiful Face = Winning the Race?
Is winning a race for mayor or even president based solely on looks? Not necessarily, of course, but physical appearance has a lot to do with overall perception. That public perception can be the “make it or break it” when it comes to winning votes.
In several social experiments over the years, this has been proven true. The experiment involves two large portraits of politicians displayed to regular folks. One portrait is of the loser of the race, while the other is of the winner.
Though the people surveyed had no idea which person had won or lost the race, the majority of the time they correctly chose the winner based on their appearance. This begs the question: “Do looks help people win political races?”
