As you go about your day, do you feel stressed to the max? You have meetings, an endless task list, and people coming to you for more of your time. You don’t sleep well, and you may not eat as healthfully as you should.
Stress has consumed you, and you don’t know what to do about it. To make matters worse, you’re starting to see what that stress is doing to you. Your skin may be changing right before your eyes.
The good news is you can reduce your stress levels and easily tackle the effects with cosmetic surgery.
How Stress Affects the Skin
Stress stimulates a chemical in your body. This can make your skin much more sensitive to the world around you. Factors that wouldn’t normally affect your skin may start to, and healing can be much more difficult.
For example, you may find that you have more frequent acne breakouts when you are stressed. This is because your body produces a hormone called cortisol. This stimulates your sebaceous glands to increase oil production. The oil clogs pores and that’s when acne forms.
Other skin problems that can occur due to stress include:
- Psoriasis
- Rosacea
- Eczema
- Hives
- Fever blisters
Another way stress contributes to skin issues is simply not caring for the skin. When you’re tired and feel overwhelmed, you are more apt to skip your skin care routine. This leads to dirt, oil, and bacterial build up that can cause breakouts and other issues. Not using sunscreen each day can lead to premature lines and wrinkles as well as sun spots.
Stress can also cause you to choose unhealthy foods and keep you from exercising. Added together, this can negatively affect the way your skin looks and reacts to your environment.
The best way to counteract the effects on your skin is to find ways to reduce stress and keep your skin healthy.
How to Reduce Stress
There are many ways to reduce stress. You have to find what works for you, and then implement your strategies each day.
